The Controversy Over Drug/Alcohol Addiction and to Go to AA or Not

Book Release by Linda Simmons”How to Realize Your Full Potential" Two of my articles are in this book.

Linda’s new book, which I happen to be apart of, is a little controversial. It starts out in the first chapter talking about addiction and recovery and mentions that AA statistics show that only 5% of the people who go to AA stay sober.

She then suggests other alternatives like Passages Malibu, which do not use the twelve steps for recovery and claim they are the most successful recovery center in the world.

Because I was in this book and endorsing it I wanted to talk to the people over at Passages Malibu to see where this statistic was coming from. I did personally talk to the intake counselor there and she admitted that their statistics are only based on the first year of a person’s sobriety.

If you were to take AA’s statistics since 1939 and only look at the first year it would be substantially higher then 5%.

I have to say that Malibu's passages program has a lot of wonderful benefits and I can see how that would make a huge difference in anyone’s recovery.

But it is my opinion that discounting the power, success and longevity of AA the twelve steps and the meetings of AA, or NA or CA is not my suggestion. I believe that different things may work and be helpful for all kinds of people and you should see what works for you and not discount in anyway the program of Alcoholic’s Anonymous.

So although I am apart of this book and feel that the book in itself is amazing I don’t agree with that one portion. And that is okay that I have a different view on this, it doesn’t make it right it is just my opinion.

For example if you are life coach then you would do a search in Google under Life Coaching directories. You will see many of these directories are free and you can now add your link to your web site, which is great because that is a one way link and you can also get your name out there so people know who you are and can find you when they are searching for your particular service. This works for all industries not just life and business coaching.

Make sure you get your self listed in DMOZ directory. It doesn’t matter what your business is this will help you with your page rank and traffic building. This directory is a must do.
