Where There is Fear There is Opportunity

When I say realizing, I’m talking about a shift in consciousness that gave me the power to embrace fear, to embrace uncertainty and turn the things I felt uncomfortable with into opportunities. How wonderful is that? :)

Eckhart Tolle says in his book, “A New Earth” “Struggle and stress is a sign that the ego has returned, as are negative reactions when we encounter obstacles.”

It sounds easy on one hand and scary on the other. Take what life gives you as wonderful gifts that help you grow and learn instead of a why is this happening to me attitude.

One of my clients I work with has a way of looking at everything that happens in her life as a tragedy. Of course I gave her my philosophy to use. At first to her it was simply a phrase that sounded great but she didn’t apply it to herself.

After a few more sessions I brought it up again and this time I gave it to her as homework. She was to not only apply this motto but on our next session describe to me how she used the things in her life that she was upset about as opportunities.

Talk about a transformation. It just happened that she was going on vacation that week to Cabo and was looking forward to a relaxing fun get away where she wouldn’t have to put her homework into action.

She called me three days into this vacation and left me a message. She said, “I arrived and the friend that was supposed to meet me at the airport wasn’t there, she had to suddenly go out of town. I was alone with no idea what to do, when she did return two days later she was in a horrible car accident on her way back and her jeep flipped over breaking four of her rips and one of her legs. She is in the hospital in pretty bad condition and my dad fell at home and is in the hospital as well.

When I heard that message I thought, oh no!... That is a lot of stuff to happen in such a short amount of time. As the message kept going I could her saying, “I am really excited look at all the opportunities.” “I almost fell over, that was not like her at all. The old Sheila(name changed) would have said, "Can you believe my bad luck?” Why is this happening when all I wanted was a quite, fun get away?

It is one thing for me to have these wonderful ah ha moments, but when someone I am working with has them and I get to see first hand how it has changed their life on so many levels, that is a wonderful feeling for me, it is at those moments I know I am living my purpose on this planet.

I get inspired by the men and women I work with, they remind me to also live my philosophies that I share with them. When people like Sheila can have such a dramatic shift in awareness I know it is possible for everyone to have that same experience.
