I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I know how scary it must feel to not have anywhere to go that you can afford.
I don't know the renters laws in Texas although I'm sure if you do a search on the Internet under renter rights in your state you will find out quite a bit. It doesn't sound right to me that they can make you leave that fast.
In the mean time your instinct to find the good in the situation is absolutely the best thing you can do for yourself and your sons.
What I have found Dee is that life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution for your consciousness. There is something to learn from all this, you don't want to miss the message here.
I can see by reading your blog that moving is going to bring you the much needed peace you deserve.
I would say the goal here would be to find another place that is affordable. I understand that you don't have time but I do think they have to either give you more time so you can find a place to live or they cannot do anything to you if you don't leave in 3 days except start an legal eviction process and in California that will give you at least a month sometimes it takes longer to evict someone.
Check it out on the Internet and let me know how it goes.
If anyone else knows anything about Dee's rights in this area please feel free to let us know.
Wishing you all the happiness and peace the universe has to offer Dee
