EXPECTATION AND STOPPING TIME ??????

by david gardiner
(australia)

Playing cricket for my school team seems to be a silly way to experience what you may call the law of attraction, being opened minded, having no previous conceived ideas.
Strange intro but hang in there.

The idea in cricket is to bowl the ball, hope the batter misses and you hit the 3 sticks(called stumps) behind the batter. Then he is out. Note; sometimes it can take all day just to get one batter out.(one Batsmen)

Ok! here is the story. I wasn't known for my bowling but after a batter had been in for some time, the captain was desperate and asked me. What the? "Ok! I said. what have I to lose." I knew how to bowl, but never had the opportunity.

One point I should highlight. This first time, my father came out to watch me play, and it was probably the last, but that didn't bother me because most the time my mother was there.

But in saying so, this all adds up to wanting to bowl well and having no previous history of my ability. No one knew how well I would bowl. Not even I!

I didn't care about the consequences but I tried my best. I WAS IN A STATE OF COMPLETE CLEAN.....A CLEAN SLATE!

There are 10 to bowl out for he team to be sent inside.

My first ball......RAN UP JUST ABOUT TO BOWL THE FIRST BALL AND JUST BEFORE I RELEASED THE BALL ......THE WORLD SLOWED DOWN TO A NEAR STOP.............
I had not a thing on my mind except for the deception of where the ball was going to be balled. I so much time in that split second...I can remember the feeling of knowing before hand that the batsmen was out.

I released the ball in the exact position with the exact swing, with the exact speed, with the exact deception, and I knew the batsman was walking before the ball had left my hand.

Ok I will cut to the chase. Those split seconds were not measured. I had no preconceived expectations from myself, my captain, the other team, even my own team. I had no inner voice interference....But more importantly.................. I had one huge reason to do well ....MY FATHER WAS THERE FOR THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME.

THE SPLIT SECOND I RELEASED THE BALL WAS ALWAYS............AS MUCH TIME I NEEDED TO PLACE THAT BALL IN THE RIGHT SPOT TO BE RELEASED FROM MY HAND TO BOWL OUT THAT PLAYER. I FELT TIME ALMOST STOP.

ON THE FIRST BALL I BOWLED OUT BATSMAN NO.1 AND THEN BOWLED OUT BATSMAN NO. 2.
I MISSED THE THIRD BALL BUT SO DID THE BATTER.
BALL 4 BOWLED THE THIRD MAN OUT.
BALL 5 BOWLED THE FOURTH MAN OUT.
BALL 6 BOWLED THE FIFTH MAN OUT.
BALL 7 BOWLED THE SIXTH MAN OUT.

I had bowled out 6 players out of 7 balls. (lucky there was only 7 balls in one over, because I had a feeling i could have finished off the whole team at that instant.

Of course my father was very proud saying...he bowled out the whole bloody team...laughing!!!!!!!!!

But more importantly to me was the lesson.

1. No pre-expectations were in my mind or anybody else. (It was the zero factor)
2. I had a very good reason to focus.
3. When these 2 elements are joined together you can stop time.

You may say rubbish......But only I know how long those split seconds lasted.

Yes they lasted...AS LONG AS IT WAS NEEDED TO RELEASE THE PERFECT BALL TO BOWL OUT THE BATSMAN.

I was made aware that day that time is not absolute, and the influences of the minds around you and your own subconscious preconceived expectations.

I was aged 11 or 12.

love david..................
