Diana,

My knowledge of being over weight is 99% of the time weight gain has to with avoiding your feelings. Since food releases dopamine in the brain, which is the same chemical that is released when you smoke a cigarette it is generating a feeling. While you are eating you feel better, which is why so many people are over weight. Different foods release different endorphins and that feeling is something your brain is not producing enough of naturally.

There are many other ways to get endorphin release without food or drugs or cigarettes. Exercise is one way. Meditation and yoga is another way.

First and foremost if you decide to loose weight do it for yourself not for anyone else. And although I hear your concern about other people judging you by your appearance if you felt good about your weight then there would be no issue.
You will always find people that are going to judge you regardless. If it's not your weight they will find something else. People who judge usually don't limit it to one area. You want to do this for yourself so you feel healthy and balanced.

I also would suggest that you take a look at what is going on in your life that is causing you to over eat.


Diana it's not easy to take a look at what is causing us pain. I know believe me I've been there. I have never been more then 15 pounds over weight but when I was it clearly had everything to do with avoidance of pain.Article on dealing with and walking through your fears



Once you take a look at what you don't want to feel, you have looked the monster in the face so to speak your need to eat won't be so strong.
When we stop avoiding things in our life and feel them that is called surrender. In surrender there is a freedom and release. It is that, that brings peace and when we are at peace we don't have the urge to over eat because we are not covering up anything.

I promise you that if you take action of being aware of what is going on in your life and allow yourself to feel it, those feelings won't kill you. They probably won't feel good, but what does feel good is finally walking through whatever we have been avoiding for so long.
