I am on the Fence with having no Ego. as i think its beneficial to have one...

Hi,

I must say your ego comments are very interesting.

Personally, I'm not sure if its healthy to live without the Ego - its a very interesting topic but i think we need it in order for us to understand who we are - a form of 'self' and identity is required i believe for us to understand how we are different to one another even when we share compassion and love. We are different and i believe its the ego that helps us identify this.

We have to have a form of balance within so we can generalize the World / Universe and have an opinion. I know its difficult when you are a spiritual person or highly evolved in this manner to have an ego and also an identity - i hope you can understand what i mean as when we meditate we are supposed to be at one, without an ego to connect and try and understand life and where we fit in, however, that doesn't always pay the bills in a very unstable World where we all need some form of income to just live and get by. We also share the World with very dangerous people and its such a shame and upsetting to know this.

I believe everyone should be given a chance in life but i know its very unfair at times and many people, depending on where they are born don't get any chance at all. its very unfortunate as we are all connected in one way or another.

I do beleive though that if we are too liberal with our thinking and have no opinion we can become extremely vulnerable in today's society and world which is very unfortunate but i truly believe that and i am probably one of the most caring and compassionate people around.

How would we also strive with our every day lives without any ego?

We have to earn money as we cannot live without it (i know its awful but that's the reality of it all) then there's all about reaching our goals and objectives in life so without the ego, how can one achieve these?

All the Coaching, self development books and NLP training teaches us to have a good image and high self esteem of ourselves if we are able to develop these skills from within.

In Coaching terms we need to also be assertive without being aggressive to get what we want out of life and to help and coach others to achieve their goals never mind our own. We are also taught to find that work life balance we all so wish to maintain and enjoy success and connect to our desires to achieve this and so on.

Surely these comments / self development areas appeal to the ego as without it how would we know who we truly are?...

I am very much on the fence with this one but def leaning towards having one albeit keeping it controlled!

For those of you who are of a similar thought or confused about the ego, i hope you can all see why i am supportive as i am happy to report, that i'm a very well balanced and caring individual who does have an ego even though i meditate and am very spiritual, however, i am also realistic about life and the evils out there as i also understand that even if i share much compassion for people whom are very different to me in their regligious beliefs and views on life, i also need to be extremely vigilent and know who i am in order to protect myself, my family and not be taken by total surprise if these same people dissapoint me.

If that is my ego talking then i am very proud as i would rather have one than be totally violated, surpressed and vulnerable in life without one.

Even if i want everyone to be loving, spriritually blessed and good to one another i know that there is no way this would ever happen with all human beings as its not physically possible so the ego is important as i believe it keeps you safe and aware :0)

All the best to all who read this message.
Angela
