I need help getting out of a five year relationship please help me

I have been in a relationship for 5 years with a man I thought loved me totally. He has a problem with commitment and kept putting me off saying he wanted to wait until his kids graduated and moved out. three years ago I wanted a ring and a commitment and said I was going to go if he could not decide.

He gave me a ring at Christmas but never proposed. I wore that ring for 2 years until I finally gave it back saying that it really meant nothing to me, he also made no move to get the ball rolling with the marriage. since I have given the ring back he has pursued me relentlessly saying he loves me and wants to be married but I can not bring myself to do this.


I have met a long lost friend whom I have grown very close to and he says he wants to be with me but i have a hard time trusting him. I also feel like I am cheating on the man I have been with for 5 years. I cant for the life of me break away from him to go to my new love and I need help understanding why.
