Special Topic; Religious Abuse - Were you abused as a child or adult by your religion? Have you undergone therapeutic treatment to deal with your abuse?
Our guest Cait Finnegan was sexually abused by nuns during her childhood years. She also suffered the usual kinds of shame and guilt brought on by the catholic sisterhood.
I, Maurice Turmel, also suffered at the hands of catholic priests and nuns and was shamed for every thought or action they defined as deviant. What does this type of brainwashing have to do with connecting to the God within?
With 2000 years of cooking the books Christian religions have a lot to answer for and it's time to put them under the microscope. No more silence for victims. And no more swallowing their dictates without examination.
Today abuse victims are coming out of the closet. And the church has to answer for its pedophile priests, abusive nuns and the evasive tactics they took to avoid responsibility, including paying off victims. What kind of holier than thou religion is this? They can either own up to their failures or disappear as happens to any organization that continues to live in denial.
Organized religion is divisive, contradictory and judgmental. All it does is hold people back from uncovering and connecting with their true spiritual nature.
Today's spirituality invites us inward, to make our own connections with our divine inheritance, our god nature, our purpose in life. It's as simple as that.
Why did all organized religions invent structures and rituals that were designed to keep the population away from such truths? Because they wanted to position themselves as intermediaries between God and Man. What are they going to do now that we know the truth about inner connectedness and we no longer need them and their phony rituals?
This will be the first in a series of shows devoted to abuse at the hands of religious authorities from any and every religion.
Join us, share your comments and stories and become part of the healing process. We can do this for ourselves and we must.
