We take a thread of life experiences from one life to another. That is, our conciousness minus all sensory perceptions (no body) clings to a new life form in order to further the experiences that we get from the sensors of a body.
Our voluntary actions in this life will bear fruits according to the universal law of cause and effct. The effects of some actions in this life will be carried over to the next life through the thread of life experiences.
So life is a constantly changing flow of causes and effects with no begining and no end.
Life can in many ways be compared to the flame of a candle. When the candle burns out, and just before the flame extinguishes it can be used to light a fresh candle. The new flame in the new candle is not the same flame. Yet there is some connection between this flame and the flame that went out.

When you die... by: Dawn Abraham
SarahJane,
Hi! One thing I do know is that it's not up to us to decide when we die. You're after life will only be an extension of this life. If you have something in this life that you are not able to deal with, it will follow you in the after life.
You will have to face it at some point. The state of consciousness that you are in now stays with you when you die. Therefore you want to work through whatever issues you have in this life otherwise you will be going around in circles.
It is a false belief that suicide is a way out. The only way out of anything is to walk through it. I wrote an article all about how I did that. This article might help you too. Dealing with fear how to do it
Deepak Chopra wrote a book on the after life that you may like Go to my recommendations for that book and many others that have made a profound difference in my life.
